My entry for the Okami Contest. I also included the brush that seemed to be such an integral part of the game.
I bet you're wondering why a legally blind artist would enter it. Well, I've seen the game because a friend has it, and it is one of VERY few games I can actually see well.
A bit of explanation. I tried to show how the character gins a life of his own, moving from the stylized strokes of the game to a more realistic apprearance. I also included the brush that seemed to be so integral to the game. I've never done anything this stylized before, so hopefully its okay. I used the stock logo too. If I need to use one of the licence things, someone let me know which one.
A few hours in Photoshop CS3 and with my Wacom Tablet
You're legally blind? Forgive me, but how the Hell do you draw so well? I have trouble drawing in a room with artificial lighting, and I have 20/20 vision.
I like your take on Amaterasu! It's a neat concept, going from brushy to realistic.
I can imagine that Okami would be easier to see than most games... with all the bright colors and bold black outlines.
And it's funny, nobody really draws the brush, and it IS really important... apparently the brush is actually Amaterasu's tail, but that would be kind of hard to use, if you think about it...
Somehow I knew you'd be entering that contest. Few wolf artists here would pass up that chance.
Well, you sure adapted to the style well. The only thing driving me nuts about the picture is the eyes, but that's just because the original art didn't give Ammy any irises... actually, they didn't really give ANYONE irises!
Oh, and hello again. This is Tal. Chatted with you before on Dee's forums (long time ago).

Yeah, I'm a little slow, but I eventually noticed... with help (as noted by my reply to another commenter above). I should stop browsing when I'm tired. -_O

A bit of a different style for you love. But it's still wonderful as ever.
I find it interesting that you should be able to see a game in stylized form, better than something that tries to better simulate real life.
However, that doesn't mean I don't think its cool. Okami is one of the few games I've been able to totally complete in many years....and it was very fun. I can see why you would enjoy it!
But, back to the picture...
I feel you di a very good job capturing the essence of the story, and Amaterasu. It's very well drawn...and the brush is a nice touch. Nicely done love!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More

I can't possibly imagine how you do it.

Sorry, out of tact. Try again later.

It has been 50 years since the last human has touched life on this planet,
a planet all but forgotten by time, no longer in the tomes of history.

One again, Windy's art manages to play tricks on my eyes. I'm just used to it being a quasi-mosaic effect. O_o
