Hi all, Ive been waiting a while to write this because of the heartbreak and grief it brings me. About a year ago I started noticing drastic changes in my remaining vision, and after going to every department in my city’s eye hospital, they finally figured out what was going on this past February. About 20 years ago, i had two retinal detachments in my sighted eye and numerous eye surgeries after that to correct them and deal with complications. I wound up with pretty decent vision, but as a result of all those surgeries, I now have cysts on my retina that block the vast majority of my field of view. Imagine there’s an enormous reddish bubble constantly in your eye bobbing around and blocking your vision. That’s what I’m dealing with now. The surgeon says he can remove it, but there is SIGNIFICANT risk that i could lose all my vision altogether. Also, having another surgery could trigger something called Phthysis, which is where the body essentially breaks down the eye, so yea…. I may eventually have the surgery anyway because I really can’t use the little bit of vision I have as it it. TLDR: I’m basically not able to paint anymore. I’m going to try and figure out some other way to do art, but I’m not sure what yet, maybe sculpting? If any of you guys have any suggestions, I’d appreciate it. I appreciate all the support you have shown me for all these years. WS
